The Santa Barbara at Windplay Deli is just one of many delightful sandwiches that keep folks returning to this workday gem in El Dorado Hills. Along with turkey, avocado and sprouts on whole wheat bread, mine had “everything on top,” which included lettuce, mayo, mustard, pickles, tomatoes and red onions. Needless to say, my sandwich had a myriad of flavors and textures, while still managing to stay light and fresh, allowing my taste buds to take a trip down the coast and linger there for the rest of the day. Accompanying my experience was the endless chatter of returning customers, two of whom asked for “the usual” and another who loudly proclaimed his sandwich to be “the best I’ve ever had,” convincing me that this deli is a well-kept secret that’s hidden among the hills. With friendly service, picturesque views and a sub for every want or need, Windplay Deli can please just about every kind of sandwich-eater…it most definitely pleased me!
