If you missed out on Folsom’s largest day of service and volunteerism last year, don’t fret, you still have time to make a difference before the end of summer at Folsom’s second annual Community Service Day on Saturday, September 19. With a goal to accomplish as many tasks in a single day that would normally take months or even years to complete, volunteers of all ages are invited to lend a hand on various projects—from a citywide food drive to creating military care packages and beautifying our city’s points of pride.

Communications Manager and Community Service Day Committee Member Christine Brainerd encourages residents to “join your friends, family and neighbors, and give back to your community by volunteering for a project that will have a lasting and meaningful impact on the Folsom community.” After a great turnout of over 1,000 volunteers in 2014, this year’s goal is to tackle 25 single-day projects “that benefit diverse segments of the community and assist those in need.” Projects will take place at a variety of Folsom locations from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. For more information and to find a project that fits your interests and reserve your spot, visit folsomcommunityservice.org.
