Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

As a lifelong learner, and after 25 years as a landscape professional, I see the solar industry being an integral component in shaping how we utilize our current resources and protect future generations by providing clean, affordable energy.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

We are involved in supporting local little leagues, soccer clubs, Boy Scouts and the chamber of commerce. We strive to present ourselves in a professional manner by giving each customer the undivided attention they deserve and ensuring all of our projects are completed with their satisfaction in mind.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

Knowledge is a powerful tool and Steve Hansen, my general manager, has a solid grasp of how the solar industry works, providing all the necessary information so the customer can make an educated decision.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

I’m proud of how my children have grown up healthy and balanced, learning how they can contribute to better our society. My son, Evan, is an Eagle Scout and currently serving in the U.S. Navy as a petty officer stationed in Europe; my daughter, Audrey, is a sophomore at CSU San Francisco studying to be a physician’s assistant.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

Ben Franklin. His inquisitive mind and entrepreneurial spirit lives on to this day through all the myriad inventions and accomplishments that identify what it is to be an American.

And finally, customer service is…?

We strive to create a relationship beyond buyer and seller—through consistency and quality of product, we make their solar experience one they will enjoy, so they can refer Solar Universe to others.
