The Placer County exhibit at the California State Fair this year will truly be a work of the people, highlighting photos from residents and visitors alike of all the things they love about Placer County.

Local artist David Carter, who has been commissioned to design the county exhibit, is a “master paper engineer.” He is the creator of multiple pop-up books, which have sold millions of copies and he’s got a truly unique concept for the display he’s building.

His exhibit will include highlights of Placer County’s thriving art community; its breathtaking scenery and recreation opportunities; its rich history; and its many wineries, breweries, farms and farmer’s markets. This year’s fair theme is “Feasts and Festivals,” which will provide many opportunities to showcase the county.

Residents and visitors of Placer County can participate in the exhibit’s display this year by capturing their own images of all that the county has to offer and sharing them on social media.

Anyone interested in participating can upload photos of themselves enjoying their favorite things about Placer County. Possible images could include photos taken at wineries and breweries, hiking or biking trails, taking in the diverse museums and art galleries, diving into the serenity of Lake Tahoe, or anything else that shows a favorite experience or activity in Placer County.

Images of the county’s bounties and special places can be shared on Twitter and Instagram by using the hashtag #PlacerLife.

County staff will collect them and use them as part of this year’s display. Those submitting photos will literally become a part of what is likely to be the most unique and creative display Placer County has ever had! Each three-dimensional interactive exhibit is uniquely tailored to highlight the striking features of the county.

The Counties Exhibit is one of the Fair’s most popular attractions. With more than 750,000 visitors during the Fair’s 17-day run, a unique and an innovative exhibit is an opportunity to widely market and showcase the best and brightest that Placer County has to offer. The Fair opens July 10 and runs through July 26.
