Larry Combs was hired Tuesday as El Dorado County's interim chief administrative officer via a closed session appointment by county supervisors. Combs succeeds Pamela Knorr, who since last November has served as interim chief administrative officer. She will return to her previous role as county Human Resources director, according to Prospect Magazine's AppealDemocrat.com.

"The terms and conditions of Combs' appointment will be considered and formally executed by the Board of Supervisors at a subsequent meeting. He takes over June 29," the article said.

According to Transparentcalifornia.com, Combs has a $185,167.92 pension from Sutter County and a $13,689.60 pension from Merced County.

Combs started his county service with San Diego in 1971 and then became assistant county administrative officer for Kings County in 1978. In 1983, Combs began a 26-year tenure as the county administrative officer for Sutter County before taking his position as chief executive officer with the county of Merced. He retired from that position in 2011.

AppealDemocrat concludes, "In announcing Combs' hiring, El Dorado County Supervisor Brian Veerkamp said his county 'has gone through an unprecedented amount of elected and appointed leadership change in the past year, and we're very pleased now to strengthen our executive management team with someone of Larry's experience and caliber.'"
