The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office is investigating a South Lake Tahoe nonprofit medical marijuana dispensary for tax evasion and illegal possession for sale of marijuana.

Law enforcement officials from several agencies led a raid on Tahoe Wellness Collective and the home of its owner Cody Bass Monday, searching for evidence. Investigators seized money, marijuana, computers, keys, phones and documents, which they are currently processing.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the investigation has been ongoing for several months, and a decision on possible charges should be forthcoming.

According to its website, Tahoe Wellness Collective "strives to create a safe community space for anyone in the community to express positive and creative ideas. We do this through the support of medical cannabis, which is our main mission: to provide high quality, pure and safe medicine to medical marijuana patients in our community."

The dispensary also says it aims to help low-income patients.'

"They took my computers, my phones, my keys, all of the medicine," Bass told SouthLakeTahoeNow.com on Tuesday. "As soon as they are done emptying out the Clinic I'll be reopening by tonight. We've been open seven years and we'll continue on. Of course, this is a bummer."
