The Fifth Annual Aerojet Rocketdyne Wounded Veteran Run fundraiser to benefit local injured veterans through the national Wounded Warrior Project and local veteran-support organizations, will be held on Memorial Day, May 25. 

Founded in 2011 by local college student Courtney Hvostal in honor of her brother who was severely injured in Afghanistan, the Wounded Veteran Run has quickly become a favorite annual Memorial Day event for the community. 

In 2012, joined as the run’s title sponsor.  Last year’s event drew more than 2,500 participants and supporters raising more than $70,000 for the veteran support groups. 

In addition to the national Wounded Warrior Project, this year’s local beneficiaries include Fregoso Outdoor Foundation, Purple Heart Fund and the El Dorado Hills Veterans Memorial Park.

The 2015 3K/5K/10K run/walk event, to be held in Folsom features professional timing on a certified race course and a fun run for kids.  Online registration is now open and closes at 10 p.m. tonight at woundedveteranrun.org.
