A quick-acting citizen stopped a car burglary in progress Sunday afternoon and gave Roseville Police information leading to the arrest of two suspects.

According to Roseville Police, a man was parked in a retail lot the 300 block of North Sunrise Avenue at about 4:15 p.m. when he heard a car alarm. When the alarm continued, the man drove around the lot to find one man rummaging through a SUV and another man acting as a lookout.

When the two realized they were being watched, they fled the scene. The citizen was able to take a photo of their car and provide a detailed description of the two men.

Roseville Police caught up with the men on westbound I-80 and pulled them over. In the car, they found stolen property from the SUV, including a purse, car stereo, jewelry and a mobile phone.

Dominic Eales, 21, and Javier Anthony Garcia, 27, both of North Highlands, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, and possession of stolen property. Officers said they also found evidence of marijuana sales on Eales, and also arrested him on suspicion of possessing and transporting marijuana for sale.

"This case would have probably gone unsolved like most other vehicle burglaries, if not for the quick actions of the citizen witness," Roseville police said in a post on their Facebook page. "He and his cell phone camera gathered invaluable leads for the officers, and he wisely got police involved immediately, instead of trying to confront the suspects himself."
