Placer County Sheriff Identifies Vicitm in Thursday Shooting

The Placer County Sheriff's Office has identified the man killed in a shooting in Newcastle Thursday morning. 

Carlo Yandolino, 58, was allegedly shot and killed by his 28-year-old son, Robert Yandolino of Rocklin, sometime before 8:45 a.m. Thursday. 

Sheriff's Deputies were called to Oakhurst Way in rural Newcastle for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, deputies found Carlo Yandolino in the driver’s seat of his car. He had been shot in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheiriff's office said. 

Robert Yandolino also assaulted a ranch worker who was treated and released Thursday from a local hospital, the sheriff's office said.

The shooting launched a five hour manhunt for Robert Yandolino that ended when Rocklin Police found his car at an apartment complex near Wildcat Boulevard. The apartment is the home of his girlfriend, the sheriff's office said.  

Once police arrived at apartment Robert Yandolino was surrounded by SWAT officers and deputies, He surrendered without incident, the sheriff's office said.

He was booked at the Placer County Jail on one count of murder and one count of attempted murder and is being held without bail. 

He will be arraigned Monday, May 18, at 1 p.m. in the jail courtroom.
