El Dorado County Office Education Taking Steps to Conserve Water

In response to the state's drought and the Gov. Jerry Brown's mandate for a 25 percent reduction in water consumption, the El Dorado County Office of Education is taking several steps to conserve.
Several ornamental grass areas will be eliminated at the administration campus on Green Valley Road in Placerville; however, areas used by students will remain. Lawn areas will decrease by about 50 percent at sites owned by EDCOE throughout the county, which are used by EDCOE’s Child Development and Special Education Programs.
“We are dedicating the resources necessary to implement a responsible plan that does not damage our infrastructure,” Superintendent of Schools Jeremy M Meyers said. “We must all do our part, as we get through this dry spell together.”
“Careful thought was put into the reduction decisions made at EDCOE. While educating students and keeping them healthy and safe, we are fairly limited in the number of areas we can decrease our water consumption - like landscaping and irrigation,” EDCOE Director of Facilities Kathy Daniels said.
