PG&E began work this week to upgrade natural gas distribution lines in Folsom, requiring lane closures on Folsom Auburn Road and Oak Avenue. The pipe replacement project will improve the distribution of the natural gas system and the safety and reliability of the infrastructure.

Evening lane closures will take place for approximately three weeks on Folsom Auburn Road between Greenback Lane and Oak Avenue. The nighttime work will occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays to minimize traffic impacts. Once that portion of work is complete, crews will continue work through Oak Avenue to Oak Avenue Parkway. This daytime work will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays for up to three weeks.

Message signs will be installed to alert motorists about the closures, and flaggers will direct traffic. Motorists should allow for extra time when traveling through the area.  PG&E has notified nearby residents and businesses. The work may cause some noise disturbances.

For more information about the closures, contact Daniel Wolfe at [email protected] or 355-7251. PG&E encourages anyone who has concerns about natural gas odors in or around their home or business to call 1-800-743-5000.
