Canyon Keepers April 7 Meeting To Feature Supervising State Park Ranger Scott Liske

The April 7 meeting of the Auburn State Recreation Area Canyon Keepers (ASRACK) will feature Supervising State Park Ranger Scott Liske describing his high Sierra wilderness trek last September on the John Muir Trail above 11,000 feet.
His classic High Sierra backpacking trip look place along a very scenic portion of the John Muir Trail through Evolution Valley and over three passes, all above 11,000 feet. The trail actually climbed to 12,000 feet.
He will describe the differences with other trips he has experienced. While this trip was shorter, it was more strenuous and required him to carry provisions for the entire trip from the beginning.
"This trip can be accomplished by fit persons who have some backpacking experience and are seeking a wilderness journey through some of California¹s most remote landscapes," he declared. "I will discuss my trip, my planning and my route selection, and will welcome questions from the audience."
The Canyon Keepers meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at the Canyon View Community Center located at 471 Maidu Drive, Auburn. Light refreshments will be served at 5:45 p.m., with the meeting to begin at 6:15 p.m., followed by the guest speaker.
The meeting is open to everyone who is interested, and offers an opportunity to learn about the history and natural beauty of the American River Canyon, hiking trails and ASRACK membership. For more information please visit canyonkeepers.org.
