Several area schools were put on lockdown Wednesday afternoon as area police searched for a man who reportedly threatened to blow up the El Dorado Center – Folsom Lake College campus.

El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene at about 1:05 p.m. for a threat from the suspect, who also claimed to have a gun. Because of the proximity to several area schools, officers from the Los Rios Community College District and the Placerville Police Department were called for mutual aid, according to the sheriff's office.

At about 1:20 p.m. a man possibly matching the suspect description was located by a sheriff's deputy. At 2:18 p.m. another man also was detained by deputies, the sheriff's office said.

The campuses of Indian Creek Elementary, the County Office of Education, Charter School, and the El Dorado Center of Folsom Lake College were put on lockdown. The schools were taken off lockdown at 2:40 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

There were no reports of injuries or evidence that any threat had been carried out. Parking lots at each building along with every room, student and staff member were checked, the sheriff's office said.

Parents were asked to wait in Green Valley Church’s parking lot on Missouri Flat Road until the search was complete and each campus was checked. A deputy waited with parents to keep them informed, the sheriff's office said.

The investigation into the incident continues.
