The Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County Western Slope would like to announce the creation of the El Dorado County Track & Field Championships, which will be open to El Dorado County students in grades 4 through 8 who wish to compete for county-wide track and field titles.

The championships will take place on
Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Union Mine High School’s football field - 6530 Koki Lane, El Dorado, CA. One hundred percent of the proceeds collected will go toward Boys & Girls Club scholarships and benefit children in the county.

The day will bring our community even closer together with exciting competitions, vendors, food stands, music
and fun for anyone who attends. Doors open at 8 a.m. “These championships will become an annual event, and I encourage all students, families, friends, educators and community members to join us. I look forward to seeing you there,” said Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County Western Slope Executive Director Sean McCartney.

This event will also be done in close partnership with the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) and the school districts in the county. Thank you to Wells Fargo Foundation for donating $10,000 to EDCOE in support of this event. With this donation, EDCOE will allocate $1000 to Union Mine for hosting the event and $1000 to nine additional schools with the highest percentage of participants at the Track & Field Championships!

“This is an amazing opportunity to showcase our talented youth, while generating funds to support such an incredible organization,” said El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools Jeremy M. Meyers.
