Mar 04, 2015 04:57PM ● By Steven Jack

Roseville and Granite Bay are two of Sacramento’s best suburbs, according to a list of the top 10 published by real estate blog Movoto.

Roseville came in at No. 3 on the list, while Granite Bay was close behind at No. 5. Rocklin was No. 7.  Movoto cited Roseville's plentiful amenities, Granite Bay's high quality of life and Rocklin's plethora of children's activities in its rankings. The following eight criteria was used to determine the list:

  • Amenties per capita
  • Quality of life (average home price, rent, household income and student to teach ratio)
  • Total crime
  • Violent crime
  • Weather
  • Graduation rates
  • Cost of gas
  • Average commute

"Aside from always having plenty to do (and eat), Roseville offers plenty of other positives—mostly for families. There’s an amusement/water park (you will NEED this—Roseville gets hot!), the Roseville Utility Exploration Center for kids, and with the fourth highest high school graduation rate in the area, some really great schools," the study said.

"... What you’re paying for in Granite Bay is an overall high quality of life, some of the best schools in the region, and a virtual absence of crime. The homes are beautiful, the streets are lined with trees, the people are friendly. ...  The excellent schools (a high school graduation rate of 93 percent) and the lowest crime rate in the area make Rocklin an ideal place for families. It’s no wonder it was voted one of Family Circle’s “10 Best Towns” for families in the country!"
