Roseville residents are urged to continue cutting back on their water usage after officials learned the city is set to receive an allocation of 25 percent of normal from the Bureau of Reclamation.

According to a release on the city website Monday, that number is based on precipitation amounts, snow pack in the Sierra among other factors. 

“The good news: We don’t anticipate this number decreasing,” the city said. “If weather conditions change and we get a wet March with more snow pack in the Sierra, for example, our water outlook can change.”

If the allocation level remains unchanged, the city says it’s ready to protect water reliability with the following actions:

• Purchase water from other agencies.
• Groundwater well program can be turned on that provides millions of gallons of supplemental water.
• Irrigation for parks, golf courses and road medians in west Roseville are irrigated with recycled water program and creates an offset to preserve drinking water.

Despite the ability to access more water resources, the city is still seeking help from residents.

“Roseville customers have responded to the need for saving water by reducing water use 20 percent last year.  Let’s continue that trend,” the city said.

The city offers the following tips for water conservation:

• Fill bathtubs on half full or less
• Reduce shower times in half
• Fix leaky toilets, faucets and sprinkler heads
• Use a broom to clean hardscapes instead of a hose.
• Install drip irrigation for trees, shrubs and flowers
• Add 2 to 3 inches of mulch around trees and plants
• Wash only full loads of laundry
• Turn off water while brushing teeth
