Roseville and Rocklin moms part of a large local running group gathered in the early morning hours Thursday in a show of solidarity after a woman was attacked about 24 hours before on the bike/walking trail that runs behind Summerhill Park.

Several dozen runners from the Roseville/Rocklin Moms Run This Town group took to the trails to send the message that “this is our town and we run it.” Several Roseville Police officers joined the moms on their run Thursday morning and several more were stationed along the trail in a show of support, according to Roseville Police.

The woman was attacked at about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday in the Highland Reserve neighborhood between Washington Boulevard and Route 65, police said.

An unidentified man attacked the woman from behind, knocking her to the ground. He then ran north toward Washington, police said. Roseville police searched the area with the help of a Sacramento Sheriff’s Office canine unit and a California Highway Patrol helicopter. They were unable to locate the suspect.

The man is described as a Hispanic male, 5-feet 11-inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing black clothing, including a black hooded sweatshrit, police said.
