Sierra Wildlife Rescue’s wildlife information and rehabbing classes will begin in January, starting with “Rehabbing Baby Skunks,” on January 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. 

Baby skunks are adorable, playful, and easy to handle.  Come learn why people’s fear and mistrust of skunks is unfounded.  The class will be followed by “See Me, Hear Me, Touch Me,” from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m, an introduction for the general public and prospective rehabbers to the sights and sounds of wildlife in El Dorado County and “tails” of some of SWR’s wild animals in rehabilitation.

February will feature the class on “Rehabbing Squirrels,” to be held on February 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  You will learn all about the six species of these fabulous, furry, playful wildlife neighbors in our county and how you can join us in rehabilitating those that are orphaned or injured to return to the wild.

All classes are held at SWR’s Wildlife Center, 3030 Newtown Rd, Placerville and are free to SWR Members; a $5 donation is requested from the general public, or you can join SWR at the class. Parking is limited, so please make reservations well in advance by calling 530-503-5582.  Please cancel if you register and cannot attend, since there is always a waiting list.

SWR always needs and welcomes new rehabbers, so come join us to learn how exciting and fulfilling rehabbing orphaned and injured wild animals and returning them to the wild can be!
