Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I provide a weekly medication management, assessment and monitoring service for seniors to help them safely “age in place” and remain independent in the home of their choice. I was a supervisor when I worked in skilled nursing, but I wanted to get back to working one-on-one with patients. During that time, I saw many seniors recovering from falls due to being over-medicated. I determined that families needed a medical professional in their corner, so I started PMM.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I provide free public service talks about “basic medication management for seniors” at independent communities and various other places. Many seniors are on a fixed income and cannot afford outside help, so getting some additional information on how to be safe and stay out of the emergency room is especially critical for them.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

It’s an amazing feeling to see a senior get that look of “ah-ha” during one of my talks when I know they finally get it and understand something about their meds they didn’t before; or seeing a family member’s face when they let out a deep breath of relief because there’s an RN watching over their loved one every week, and the senior is no longer over-medicated and groggy.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

I’ll play my guitar, read, watch a movie or take a long walk.

What’s your hidden talent?

Playing guitar and singing.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Seniors are near and dear to my heart, and I love knowing that I make a difference in their quality of life.

What is your favorite local business other than your own?

Trader Joe’s, hands down. I love their variety and great customer service.
