Have you been craving mac ‘n’ cheese lately? For a more sophisticated “adult” version of everyone’s childhood favorite, hop on over to Hop House at the El Dorado Hills Town Center for some high-calorific comfort. Their Chorizo Mac ‘n’ Cheese is not for the faint-hearted! There is a heady aroma to that chunky chorizo that swims around seductively in a pool of golden, melted cheese and fluffy macaroni, so that with each bit, you die a slow, blissful death. As I (over) indulged in this gooey goodness, I needed a “lil sumpin’” to wash it all down with, so I ordered myself a Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale. Also a rich, golden color, this beer starts off sweet and slightly floral, and ends with a bitter finish that lingers and then fades, making for one exciting palette of flavors and sensations. The décor was impressive, too. Brick walls, rustic wooden furniture, lamps from recycled engine parts, and chalkboards adorning the walls all tied together nicely, creating a casual, industrial look. Once here, you kick back, relax and eat and drink to your heart’s content. They actually instruct you to; carved onto the wooden box that held the forks and knives at our table were the words, “Eat, Drink and Live Well.” Don’t mind if I do.
