Folsom Symphony Holiday Concert December 6 & 7

Nov 13, 2014 10:16AM ● By Brenna Mc Gowan

Under its new conductor Peter Jaffe, the Folsom Symphony's annual winter concert December 6 and 7 will celebrate the holidays with its most varied repertoire ever.  'Tis the Season presents more than a dozen classical and traditional treasures, with performances by not only the orchestra but soprano soloist Jessica Siena and the American River College Choir and Chamber Singers. The audience will join in, too, with a special carol singalong.

The program will be performed December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Harris Center/Three Stages theater on the Folsom Lake College campus. Good seats are still available.

Siena, a resident of Stockton, has performed with the Stockton Symphony and other orchestras throughout the country, winning acclaim for her vocal artistry and dramatic presence. The late jazz legend Dave Brubeck chose Siena for the role of Dora in his operatic suite “Cannery Row" at an annual Brubeck Festival.

The American River College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will be led by Dr. Ralph Hughes. Hughes is the director of choral activities at the college as well as conductor of the Sacramento Master Singers, a premier chamber choir that has performed worldwide. The California Music Educators Association Capitol Section in 1995 recognized Dr. Hughes as its Outstanding Music Educator of the Year.

Tickets for  'Tis the Season are available at the symphony's website, folsomsymphony.com, by calling 916-608-6888 or by visiting the Harris Center/Three Stages ticket office on the college campus.
