Twin Lakes Food Bank provides food and clothing to numerous families. They require canned and packaged foods and invite volunteers to participate for even a day—if not more. They have an upcoming Thanksgiving Turkey and Trimmings Give Away on November 25th, 2013 from 8:30 am - 11:30am where families are provided with a turkey and a bag of all the extra trimmings for their Thanksgiving Dinner to residents of Folsom, Orangevale, El Dorado Hills and Granite Bay. Placer food Bank supplies food to a network of hunger-relief agencies and charitable organizations in Placer and El Dorado counties. Orangevale Food Bank organizes weekend food drives and monthly groceries for those in need. They also ask for student volunteers, delivery truck drivers, and harvest helpers among others, and request donations of canned goods and fresh fruits and vegetables. Every year, they partner with multiple organizations in the area to provide hundreds of families with a boxed Thanksgiving dinner, and they will need volunteers to help prepare the boxes and pass out turkeys. Sunrise Christian Food Ministry serves food to multiple families every week and operates in Citrus Heights and Orangevale. They are collecting items such as cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, green beans, yams and pumpkin pie mixes as part of their Thanksgiving Holiday Meal Food Drive, meant for the less fortunate. The Salt Mine conducts a feeding program that provides a food box that will feed a needy family for a week and also offer emergency food once a month. St. Vincent de Paul’s Roseville’s Food Locker invites families from Placer County to come in for groceries once every 30 days. They also deliver groceries to homebound seniors or handicapped persons in Roseville. They accept donations of baby food, groceries and cash, and of course, volunteers.
