Get to Know...Tom Mailey

Tom Mailey is my dad, so I’ve known him pretty much my whole life.

He grew up in Washington, went to high school and college there, and still makes us go there for most vacations instead of some place warm like Hawaii.

He’s worked with Pat Still on the morning show at KNCI for 17 years and still loves what he does, which is cool because if you have to get up at 3:30 every morning for work, you’d better love what you do. And since he’s always had a real knack for words, it’s a rather perfect fit for him to talk for a living. It doesn’t stop once he gets home from work either. Trust me, this guy’s a real chatterbox, especially when he’s trying to get me to do my homework. Sometimes I have to turn the volume on my iPod headphones all the way up before I can drown him out.

But my dad’s a pretty swell guy. He loves his family and tries to live his life to the fullest every day – and he tries to get us to do the same. There’s rarely a dull moment with him around, and he is always the life of the party…even if he isn’t invited.
